Preakness 2014

Update: California Chrome, the favorite, won today's running of the Preakness Stakes.

Ride On Curlin was second, Social Inclusion was third, and General A Rod was fourth. The time of 1:54.84 was way off the stakes record set by Secretariat in 1973, but Big Red's record was not officially recognized until 2012.

If California Chrome beats the odds and wins the Belmont Stakes in three weeks, he will be the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win (and Spectacular Bid should have won in 1979) the Triple Crown.

I hope he succeeds.

Video. The quality is shitty because somebody pointed a videocamera or more likely an iPhone at a monitor to "record" it:

Earlier: The weather is no issue for today's running.

There are a total of ten horses in today's race, post time of which is at 6:18 EDT or 3:18 PDT.
