More About Sandoval's New Orleans Scheme

Seven Washoe County schools will be affected by Sandoval's proposals, if they ever come to pass, with three of them currently charter schools. The others would be forced to be charter schools if Sandoval gets his way. This is nothing but a fucking disaster waiting to happen, since it does nothing to solve the problems of poverty and especially transience in a state that doesn't value education at all.

Two of the schools, Desert Heights Elementary School and Robert Mitchell Elementary School, were two that I worked at during the 2002-2003 school year. I was a Title I teacher on a temporary contract.

Only in education are idiots who know nothing about teaching and learning but think they are experts are trying to dictate what teachers will teach and what students will learn. In other words, neophytes are trying to tell experts how to do their jobs. Just imagine this crap being pulled on engineers or doctors or lawyers.

It's a scandal.

In northern Nevada, schools in Churchill, Elko, Humboldt, Pershing and Washoe Counties made the list of Focus Schools. The schools are Numa ES in Churchill County, Owyhee ES and Owyhee MS in Elko County, McDermitt ES in Humboldt County, Lovelock ES and Pershing ES in Pershing County, and Corbett ES, Mitchell ES, and Vaughn MS in Washoe County.

On the list of One-Star Schools, northern Nevada saw I Can Do Anything HS and Rainshadow HS make the list. Both are in Washoe County. State charter Silver State Middle School also made the list.

With so many charter schools on the list, why the hell are they getting any taxpayer money at all? They ought to be shut down.
