Saturday Miscellaneous

We know John King is a bad, bad individual, but is there a silver lining to his appointment in succeeding dipshit Duncan?

The only good thing I see is he will be there only until the end of Obama's term.

Obituary: Noted one-time Democratic representative Don Edwards of California, only 100, has died. He had been an FBI agent before going into politics. Edwards was a real Democrat, not one of these neoliberal shitstains, who championed civil rights.

Edwards was in Congress before it became incongruous. He was there for 32 years, from 1963 to 1995.

Mr. Edwards, an F.B.I. agent in the 1940s, was also an early opponent of the Vietnam War and a champion of civil liberties who took on the F.B.I. on domestic surveillance and budget issues.

He entered Congress in 1963, in time to vote for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. After becoming chairman of the Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee on civil and constitutional rights, he managed the Equal Rights Amendment on the House floor in 1971 and was the floor manager for all other civil rights bills.
