Thursday Reads

Ratfucker Roger lashes out, probably to no avail.

It isn't just the obvious sexism why there is so much hostility, especially by white dudes, to Hillary Clinton. It is also the fact she is at 68 an "older woman."

In our culture, if women are not deemed fuckable, they have no value to the stupid white dudes who still control things. How dare HRC come out of invisibility to be the first woman president in the history of the United States?

Another study — this one done last year by economists at the University of California at Irvine and Tulane University — looked at what happened when 40,000 fake résumés carefully created to reflect a breadth of age-appropriate experience were sent out for all kinds of jobs in cities across the country.

And, yup, you guessed it. The number of callbacks for older women was way lower than for younger women. In some cases — administrative jobs — 47 percent lower. But when it came to men, young and old got equal shots at jobs, wrinkles and ear hair be darned.

Corporate America is the axis of evil when it comes to the sexism/ageism intersection.

The Republican head of GM comes out for Hillary Clinton.

I, too, was appalled two men got on television talking about an issue they have really no business discussing.

Obituary: Singer Joan Marie Johnson Faust, 72, one of the original members of the 1960s girl group, The Dixie Cups, has died. She died yesterday.

Their biggest hit was "Chapel of Love," a monster hit of that era. It was produced by legendary producer and later convicted murderer Phil Spector. He co-wrote it with famed songwriters Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich.

Sisters Barbara Ann and Rosa Lee Hawkins formed the Dixie Cups along with Faust, their cousin. In June 1964, the trio famously kicked the Beatles out of the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with the song “Chapel of Love.” It proved to be their biggest hit, selling more than 1 million copies.
