Was Trump given a payoff in return for lifting sanctions against Russia?

Since Trump is batshit crazy, I don't think he can be reined in.

The similarities between him and the late Uganda dictator Idi Amin become clearer by the day.

Obituary: Too bad she died because she could have held a job in the Trump administration:

Brunhilde Pomsel, a secretary to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels who late in life came forward to publicly reflect on, if perhaps not fully reckon with, questions of personal and collective guilt in the face of the Holocaust, died during the night of Jan. 27 at her home in Munich. She was 106.

Her death was confirmed by Roland Schrotthofer, a director of “A German Life,” a documentary drawn from dozens of hours of interviews conducted with Ms. Pomsel when she was 103. No other details were immediately available.

Ms. Pomsel was one of the last surviving members of the Nazi hierarchy’s most intimate staff, but she spent all but the final years of her life in obscurity. She became widely known only after the premiere of the documentary in Nyon, Switzerland, in 2016. The U.S. release is forthcoming.

Another obit: French actress Emmanuelle Riva, 89, died Friday after a battle with cancer:

Riva was most recently hailed by critics for her moving performance in “Amour” (2013). She played Anne Laurent, an elderly music teacher who suffers a stroke and must be cared for by her husband, played by legendary French actor Jean-Louis Trintignant. The film won several awards, including the Academy Award for best foreign-language film, for its unflinching portrayal of end of life issues. Riva was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress and won a British BAFTA Award and a French Cesar Award for her performance.

The problem here is not with those of us who knew all along what a lunatic Trump is, but it is with the millions who still blindly support this nutcase.

I am not sure the author of the piece really understands the mindset that brought Trump this far.
